West Lake is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) in Calcasieu Parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. In 2010 Westlake had 4568 inhabitants.
Geography
Westlake is located in Southwest Louisiana on the shore of Calcasieu River, near its confluence with the Calcasieu Lake. The border with Texas is located approximately 50 km to the west. The city covers an area of 6 km ².
Neighbouring places of West Lake are Moss Bluff (13,8 km northeast), Lake Charles ( on the opposite bank of the Calcasieu River on the southeastern outskirts ) and Sulphur (12,8 km to the west ).
The nearest big cities are Lafayette (125 km east), Louisiana's capital Baton Rouge (214 km in the same direction), Shreveport (298 km north), Beaumont, Texas ( 93.7 km to the west ) and Texas ' largest city, Houston (227 km in the same direction).
Traffic
Interstate 10 and U.S. Highway 90 run on a common stretch along the southern city limits of Westlake. In addition, take the Louisiana Highways 378 and 379 together in the city of Westlake. All other roads are minor roads, some unpaved roadways and within local roads.
Parallel to I 10 runs a railroad line of the BNSF Railway by Westlake. The route is also used by the Sunset Limited, one trains running from Los Angeles to New Orleans Amtrak express train, which is making a stop in the east adjacent Lake Charles.
With the Lake Charles Regional Airport is located 19.9 km south of the nearest regional airport. The nearest major international airport is George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston (215 miles west).

According to the census in 2010 lived in Westlake 4568 people in 1801 households. The population density was 761.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 1801 households lived statistically 2.54 per person.
