The Westpac Banking Corporation is an Australian bank with its headquarters in Sydney. The company is listed on the All Ordinaries on the Australian Securities Exchange and the NZX 50 Index on the New Zealand Exchange.

The bank was founded in 1817 under the name Bank of New South Wales, in 1982 it was renamed in Westpac. The company employs over 37,000 employees. In May 2008, Westpac took over St George Bank for the equivalent of 11.3 billion euros. Thus, the largest financial institution in Australia with around 39 billion euro market capitalization has emerged.

Apart from Australia, Westpac New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Singapore, China, Malaysia, Taiwan and Indonesia operates.
