Westphalia ( Westfalen) is an agricultural town in Osage County, Missouri in the United States.
Location
Westphalia is located in the northern heights of the Ozark Mountains. The village is 15 miles from Jefferson City located in Osage County.
History
1835, the town was founded by a group of German Einwander from Paderborn and Oelde. Dr. Bernhard Bruns and his brothers had built up as the first farms in Maries Valley and the new place first called New Westphalia. The founders also Nicholas Hesse belonged. Later, the town was renamed. 1848 St. Joseph's Church was built.
