Wetjes-Hor

Wetjes -Hor (Throne of Horus ) is the ancient Egyptian name of the 2nd Upper Egyptian nome located in southern Egypt. The main town was Edfu, where Horus was worshiped. The name of the district is attested from the Old Kingdom. From the end of the Old Kingdom some nomarchs are known. The Greeks put Horus with Apollo equal, which is why the provincial capital Edfu was referred to them as Apollonospolis and the Gau as Apollonopolites.
