Wheatfield ( German wheat field ) is a city in the southwestern part of Niagara County, New York, United States of America. In the census of 2005 15.768 inhabitants were counted. The name stems from the agricultural use of the surrounding town, the cultivation of wheat.
Economy
During the Second World War, the city developed into an industrial site. The largest operation was the Bell Aircraft Corporation, which produced the first fighter aircraft P-39 Airacobra and later other products for the aviation and aerospace industry.
