When in Rome (Band)

When in Rome is a British New Wave group, which had their greatest success in the late 1980s.

History

The band was founded by singer Clive Farrington, a former member of the Group Leisure from Manchester. Another former member of the band, Corinne Drewery, was later known by Swing Out ​​Sister. Farrington teamed up with Michael Floreale and Andy O'Connell. Farrington and Floreale wrote together new song material and even before the first demo recordings were started, O'Connell left the band and was replaced by Andrew Mann. Using the demo recordings was When in Rome a record deal with Virgin Records. After the maxi-single The Promise climbed up to the top of the Billboard Dance Club Play Charts, began recording for a whole album. The first regular singing of the band's name as the title of their debut album bearing a remixed, shorter version of The Promise was decoupled, which reached position 1988 Elf on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself reached number 84 of the U.S. album charts. The next single release reached just under the Hot 100, two more singles could not be placed on the Hot 100. Michael Floreale moved to the United States, where he appeared from 2006 under the band name When in Rome with other musicians. Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann remained in Britain and went there in 2009 as When in Rome on. In the U.S. they lead, however the name Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann formerly of When in Rome, there was Floreale protect in the United States, the band name at that time.
