Whitecross

Whitecross is a Christian Metal band that was formed in 1986 in Chicago (USA). It was in the late 1980s and early 1990s one of the most popular Christian melodic metal bands of the U.S., whose core were singer Scott Wenzel and guitarist Rex Carroll.

Band History

Whitecross was formed in 1986 by Rex Carroll and Scott Wenzel. A year later, the self-titled debut album was released on the label Pure Metal. Because of their style, they were then often compared to the hair metal group Ratt. On the debut was followed by the EP Love On the Line. In addition, the albums Hammer and Nail ( 1988) and Triumphant Return ( 1989) were published. Pure Metal was then bought by Star Song. Two more albums were recorded and they won in 1990 and 1992 at the Dove Awards in the Category Hard Music Album of the Year. Then Rex left Carroll, who was a founding member of an important part of the band, the group in 1993. Whitecross but still existed until 1998, with Wenceslas as the only residual founding member. 2005 Carroll and Wenzel got back together in order to regroup Whitecross and re-record the debut album under the name Nineteen Eighty Seven, provided with two bonus tracks.
