Whitenose shark

The Weißnasenhai ( Nasolamia velox ) is the only species in the genus Nasolamia within the requiem sharks ( Carcharhinidae ). The species is widespread in the eastern Pacific south of the Baja California and the Gulf of California to Peru.

Appearance and characteristics

The Weißnasenhai is a slender shark with a body length of up to 150 centimeters. He has a light gray to gray-brown body color and a whitish belly region without patterning. There is a black spot on the tip of the snout weißumrandeten. It is like the blue sharks of the genus Carcharhinus in habit. After it has a fin and two dorsal fins, said second fin and the back is significantly shorter than the first. They are also characterized by a pointed snout with close-set nostrils. Way of life

Dissemination

The species is widespread in the eastern Pacific south of the Baja California and the Gulf of California to Peru. This is preferable to a shallow-water dwellers, the depth of 15 to 25 meters, maximum catches are taken from about 190 meters depth.
