Wiesław Ochman

Wieslaw Ochman ( born February 6, 1937 in Warsaw) is a Polish operatic tenor.

The singing lessons for Ochman was initially a leisure activity which he pursued during his engineering studies. He then embarked on a operatic career. His debut in Bytom in 1960 as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti followed there for three more years until he was hired in 1964 at the Opera House his home town of Warsaw. End of the 1960s, then began his international career that took him to the Staatsoper in Berlin, at the Covent Garden Opera London, the Grand Opéra Paris and Prague. Several times he has performed at the Hamburg State Opera. He also sang at the festival at Glyndebourne and Salzburg, where he expanded his repertoire by Mozart roles. In a television adaptation of Franz Lehar's The Tsarevich he stepped on to the side of Teresa Stratas.

He received at the Vienna State Opera, the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, Geneva, Chicago, San Francisco and finally to the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he became a permanent member in 1975 Other engagements. Here it was used mainly in Slavic specialist. Guest performances took him to the 1990s back to Hamburg and the German Opera Berlin.
