Wigod

Wigod (also Wigot ) was the Anglo-Saxon lord of Wallingford on Thames, a relative of Edward the Confessor.

During the conquest of England, and the Battle of Hastings William the Conqueror moved to London, but was prevented from crossing the Thames. Wigod invited Wilhelm one to Wallingford, where the Normans were then able to cross the river.

Wigods daughter married Robert D' Oyly Ealdgyth, one of William's barons. After Wigods death was Robert, Lord of Wallingford, as Wigods son tokig (or toking ) had fallen in the fighting on the side of William.
