Wijan Ponlid

Wijan Ponlid ( Thai: วิจารณ์ พล ฤทธิ์, pronunciation: [ WI - ʤa ː n p ʰ on- rit ]; born April 26, 1976 in Ban Tuek, County Satchanalai Si, Sukhothai Province ) is a former Thai boxer.

Southpaw Wijan won the gold medal in the flyweight at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. He thus became only the second Thai Olympic champion after Somluck Kamsing, who won gold four years earlier. He hit the antretenden for Germany Vardan Zakarjan, the Canadian Andrew Kooner, the Cuban Manuel Mantilla, Wladimir Sidorenko in the semifinals and the amateur world champion and silver winners of the games of Atlanta, Bolat Schumadilow from Kazakhstan.
