Construction

The design of the tower comes from Prof. Julius Natterer.

The floor plan of the tower consists of an equilateral triangle with a side length of 12 m at the base. This tapers up to a height of 17 m, then again exhibit at an altitude of 34 m, the original size. The viewing platform at 34 m height is covered.

The traffic and wind loads are three X - shaped supports. An X consists of two upper and two lower logs that are connected rigidly to one another at the level of the intermediate platform. The loads from the roof to be entered by three W-shaped trusses in the outer supports.

The core of the tower consists of a double spiral staircase with two independent flights of stairs ( stairs to the tower stairs from the tower ) of 2.50 each m width. After each 18 treads intermediate landings are available. The steps made of solid wood 18 x 36 cm were centered strung on a metal spindle and screws.

Only wood from surrounding forests was used for the construction. The majority of the timber, namely the logs of Douglas fir and the stairs made of white pine were felled in the spring of 2005, cut and dried naturally.
