Wilesco is the hallmark of the resident in Lüdenscheid Wilhelm Schröder GmbH & Co. KG. It is the world's largest manufacturer of model steam engines.

History

Wilesco was founded in 1912 when Wilhelm Schröder GmbH & Co. metal goods factory Lüdenscheid, by Wilhelm Schroeder and Ernst Wortmann. There were mainly made of aluminum cutlery until after the First World War. In the early 1920s came Toys added in the form of home economics miniatures ( doll cutlery, pots, etc.). In 1950 the production of model steam engines and accessories began. The produced from 1966 steam roller " Old Smoky ", which is also offered as -propelled traction engine, is very popular among collectors.
