Wiley -VCH in Weinheim on the mountain road bundles its publishing activities in different business areas of natural and engineering sciences as well as economics. He publishes for the scientific community for scientific societies and for researchers, practitioners and students around the world. The supply of scientific, technical and economic information takes various forms as books, journals, databases, online publications and services. The turnover was about 100.2 million euros in 2010.

The publishing house was established in 1921 as a publisher chemistry and was a Community Foundation of the German Chemical Society, the Association of German Chemists and the Association to safeguard the interests of the chemical industry. In the following decades he worked primarily in the fields of chemical literature, materials science, physics, engineering, medicine and life sciences. Since 1996 he is part of the worldwide publishing group John Wiley & Sons, Inc., based in Hoboken, New Jersey. His focus is in the areas of teaching, scientific research and industrial development. Since 2001, the publishing house published a German-language Economic and nonfiction since 2005, the German editions of the series For Dummies.

For publishing group also includes Ernst & Sohn ( Civil Engineering and Architecture ) in Berlin, GIT Verlag, Darmstadt and the publisher Helvetica Chimica Acta, Zurich.
