History

The Wilfrid Laurier University was first established in 1911 as an ecclesiastical college. Of present namesake is the former Canadian Prime Minister Wilfrid Laurier. For several years, student numbers are rising substantially, so that in Brantford now a second campus is built.

High school sports

In 2005, the Laurier Hawks, the football team of the WLU won the Vanier Cup and thus the Canadian University Championships.
