Wilfried Scharf

Wilfried Scharf ( born April 9, 1955 in Braunau am Inn) is an Austrian zither soloist and since 1989 professor at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz.

Life

Wilfried Scharf grew up in a musically oriented environment. After compulsory education and high school he graduated from 1974 to 1977 the Pedagogical Academy of the Diocese of Linz, where he took the teaching qualification for secondary schools in the subjects of English and Music Education from and then taught four years at a secondary school. In 1982 he began the main compartment zither at the Tyrolean State Conservatory with Peter Suitner to study and put 1985, the state teaching certificate for zither with distinction from.

In 1989, the zither was introduced as a major subject in the " Bruckner Conservatory " in Linz and Wilfried Scharf tasked with setting up a zither class.

Since the late 1980s, he appeared as soloist and founded in 1982, the ensemble "Salzburg strings sound ". The ensemble adapted classic works for harp, zither and guitar.
