Wilhelm Moritz Keferstein

Wilhelm Moritz Keferstein ( born June 7, 1833 in Winsen ( Luhe), † 25 January 1870 in Göttingen ) was a German professor of zoology and comparative anatomy at the Georg- August-Universität Göttingen. He wrote " Zoological contributions collected in winter 1859/60 in Naples and Messina ", published in 1861 in Leipzig, and the first to describe a larger number reptiles and amphibians.

Life

After studying water engineering in Hannover Keferstein moved in 1852 to Göttingen to study at the Georg -August- University Medical Center. In 1857 he became an assistant at the Institute of Physiology, 1858 Privatdozent, 1861 and 1868 associate professor of zoology at Göttingen. On his initiative, the construction of the Natural History Museum returns. He died in 1870. 1907 was a Göttingen plaque attached to his last residence in the Groner Landstrasse 11.
