Wilhelm von Salisch

Wilhelm Rudolf von Salish (born 5 November 1913 in choir rabbits, † March 18, 1945 at Balga ) was a German officer, last colonel and regimental commander in World War II.

Life

Salish came from the well-known Silesian noble family of the Salish. He studied law in Göttingen and in 1933 became a member of the Corps Saxonia.

On October 1, 1935, he enlisted in the army and joined the end of 1936 in the 9th Infantry Regiment he joined the 49th Infantry Regiment in 1938, he became a lieutenant.

During World War II he fought in the campaigns against Poland, France and Russia, and in the battle for East Prussia. On April 1, 1943, he was appointed Major, promoted to lieutenant colonel on 27 July 1944.

As commander of the Hunter Regiment 49 he was severely wounded for the ninth time on 17 March 1945. He died the next day at the field hospital, and was buried in the cemetery of the Teutonic castle Balga. The award of the Swords to the Oak Leaves, he did not live. Posthumously, he was promoted to colonel.
