Wiligelmo

Wiligelmo da Modena (also Wiligelmus or Guglielmo ) was an active in Modena from about 1099 to 1120 Steinmetz. The influence of Roman relief and sarcophagus art and the art of the Languedoc important Romanesque sculptors of Italy created reliefs with large figures of the prophets on the west facade of the cathedral of Modena ( Adam and Eve and other scenes from Genesis, completed in 1106) and the church of San Geminianus in Modena. His name is preserved by an inscription. He is considered the first Italian artist who signed his works and influenced by his work, the art of Emilia and Lombardy sustainable ( eg the reliefs at the Cathedral of Cremona ).
