Wilkowo, Kętrzyn County

Wilkowo ( German Wilke village ) is a village in Poland in the Warmia - Mazury. It belongs to the municipality Kętrzyn in powiat Kętrzyński. The village is home to a Schulz Office ( sołectwo ) to which the villages Henrykowo, Łazdoje, Stachowizna and Stadniki belong.

Geography

The village is located in northern Poland in the historic East Prussia.

History

The localization of today Wilkowo place in the year 1369 with an area of ​​12 feet. The locator Kesten January makers had received from Winrich von Kniprode permission to do so and was, like the other residents, 15 years exempt from all burdens. 1818 there were 25 residential buildings in the village of Wilke. From 1818 to 1945 Wilke village belonged to the circle Rastenburg. At the end of the 19th century a new church was built, in which preaching chaplains from Heiligelinde ( Święta Lipka ). 1937 a self-managed parish was established. 1945, at the end of the Second World War, the Red Army marched into the area. As a result of the war Wilke village was Wilkowo as part of the People's Republic of Poland. In 1947 there were in Wilkowo a three-class primary school with 50 pupils, 1950 a library was opened. 1954 to 1960 the village was the seat of a Gromada. Until 1970 the school was Wilkowo was erweitert.1973 to a eight-year primary school as part of the Common Kętrzyn seat of a Schulz Office. To the mayor's office were Henrykowo, Łazdoje and Marzenin.

Economy and infrastructure

The village is located on the Wilkowo province road 591 ( droga wojewódzka 591 ). This leads after 15 kilometers southwards at Mrągowo into the national road 59 ( droga Krajowa 59). In the north, it leads after eight kilometers through Kętrzyn and ends after about 35 kilometers of the border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast. A border crossing point does not exist.

The place does not have its own rail connection. The nearest train station is eight kilometers north in Kętrzyn, where there are direct connections to Olsztyn and Poznan.

The nearest international airport is Kaliningrad, of about 110 kilometers north-west is located on Russian territory. The nearest international airport on Polish territory is located about 190 kilometers west of Lech Walesa Airport, Gdansk.

In the village there is the Nicolaus Copernicus Elementary School.
