Willeke van Ammelrooy

Willeke van Ammelrooy ( born April 5, 1944 in Amsterdam; actually Willy Geertje van Ammelrooij ) is a Dutch actress.

Life and achievements

Willeke van Ammelrooy debuted in 1966 in Rotterdam Europoort ( Joris Ivens ). In the film, Mira ( 1971) it has already taken over the leading role. In Thriller A man goes the whole hog (1972 ) she played alongside Telly Savalas. In Cancer Rising ( 1975) and the thriller Outsider in Amsterdam ( 1979) she starred opposite Rutger Hauer.

In the Oscar-winning Best Foreign Language film comedy Antonia (1995 ) took over van Ammelrooy the main role of Antonia. She won a prize from the Nederlands Film Festival for her performance in 1995. The same award she received for her role in the film Lijmen from the year 2000. In 2001, she received the award Grolsch film Boulevard of the Nederlands Film Festival. In the film drama The Lake House (2006) she played the role of the mother of Kate Forster, the embodied Sandra Bullock.

Van Ammelrooy is married to the singer Marco Bakker.
