Willem Jacobsz Delff
Willem Jacobszoon Delff (also: Delfus or Delphius ) (* November 15, 1580 in Delft, † April 11, 1638 ) was a Dutch engraver and painter. His parents were Jacob Willemsz. Delff ( the Elder) ( 1550, † May 5, 1601 ) and Mary Nagel ( † 1622 ).
His father was a painter and teacher at the same time his three sons. His brother Cornelius Jacobsz. (van ) Delff (around 1571-1643 ) who specialized in still life, his second brother Rochus Jacobsz. Delff (1572? -1617 ) Painted mainly portraits.
He married in 1618 Geertruid van Mierevelt (* January 2, 1594, † October 30, 1639 ) daughter of Michiel van Mierevelt ( 1567-1641 ) with whom he 1631/32 also bought a house ( De Handtboog ). His son Jacob Willemsz. Delff (the younger ) ( 1619-1661 ) was also a well-known portrait painter.
