Willem Mons

Willem Mons, also Moens de La Croix, (* 1688, † November 16, 1724 ) was a close confidant of Catherine I of Russia. His sisters were Anna Mons and Matrena Mons, his niece Natalia Lopukhina. They were of German descent.

Willem is said to have stolen from Catherine. After a short but brutal interrogation by Pyotr Andreyevich Tolstoy Mons was sentenced on November 14, 1724 and executed two days later. His head is preserved in ethanol in the Kunstkammer of Saint Petersburg.
