Willi Gutmann

Willi Gutmann ( born December 2, 1927 in Dielsdorf, Canton Zurich, † February 21, 2013 in Oberhasli, Canton of Zurich ) was a Swiss sculptor.

Life and work

Willi Gutmann began his career as an architect and designer, however, changed from 1965 to the occupation of the sculptor. Gutmann used metals and alloys, it transformed in various ways for most of its sculptures. Gutmann specialized in monumental sculptures that were based on disjointed, moving body. Gutmann sculptures can be found in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Japan and Europe.

Gutmann represented Switzerland in the route of Friendship for the Olympic Summer Games 1968 in Mexico City. His work Twin Circles Geared Together is exhibited in the Mervis Hall, University of Pittsburgh. His work Big Orange is issued to the University of Houston. The largest of his sculptures, Two Columns with Wedge ( " Two columns with wedge ") of 1971, is 24 meters high and is located in the " Embarcadero Center " in San Francisco.
