William Avery (basketball)

William Franklin Avery Jr. ( born August 8, 1979 in Augusta, Georgia ) is a retired American professional basketball player. He played mainly on the position of point guard.

Before the start of his professional career he played at Duke University and was - as he left the university after his " sophomore " year - in 14th place of the NBA Drafts from 1999 selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves. But in the NBA, he is disappointed and came in three years and 142 games for the Timberwolves only 2.7 points and 1.7 Korbvorlagens per game.

When his three-year contract expired in 2002, had no other NBA team interested in him, and so he moved to Europe, where he was first in the French LNB Pro A, Ligat ha Al of Israel, in the Ukrainian " Wyscha League " as well as in Greek A1 Ethniki played.
