William Dacre, 2nd Baron Dacre

William Dacre, 2nd Baron Dacre (c. 1319; † July 18, 1361 ) was an English military officer and politician.

Family and career

Dacre was born as the eldest of three Söhn of the 1st Baron Dacre and his wife Margaret de Multon. He married at the April 20, 1339 Katherine Neville, second daughter of Ralph Neville, 2nd Baron Neville de Raby. The two had no children. After the death of his father in 1339 given the title of Baron Dacre fell. With the death of his mother in 1361 he also took over the title of Baron Multon of Gilsland. The latter became extinct with his death, while his younger brother Randolf became the 3rd Baron Dacre. By decree of January 30, 1346 Edward III appointed. him to the sheriff of Dumfries. In October of the same year he participated in the Battle of Neville 's Cross as a member of the armed forces of the English crown. On November 25, 1350 he became a member of the English Parliament and took in July 1353 at the Magnum Concilium at the king's court in part.
