William Edwin Franklin

William Edwin Franklin ( May 3, 1930 in Parnell ) is Bishop Emeritus of Davenport.

Life

William Edwin Franklin received on February 4, 1956, ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Dubuque.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop on January 29, 1987 in Dubuque and Titular Bishop of Surista. The Archbishop of Dubuque, Daniel William Kucera, OSB, gave him on April 1 of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were James Joseph Byrne, retired Archbishop of Dubuque, Francis and John Dunn, Auxiliary Bishop of Dubuque.

On 12 November 1993 he was appointed bishop of Davenport and is introduced into the office on January 20th of the next year. On 12 October 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. its age-related resignation.
