William G. Gregory

William George " Borneo" Gregory ( born May 14, 1957 in Lockport, New York State ) is a former American astronaut.

Gregory received in 1979 a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy and in 1980 a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University. In 1984, he received a master's degree in management from Troy State University.

From 1981 to 1986, Gregory fighter pilot and pilot instructor in Lakenheath, England, and on the Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico. In 1987, he attended the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School and was employed from 1988 to 1990 as a test pilot at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

Astronauts activity

In January 1990, Gregory was selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate. In addition to various other activities in the astronaut office, he was also Head of the Spacecraft Operations.

STS -67

On his first and only space mission Gregory flew on 2 March 1995 as a pilot of the space shuttle Endeavour into space. It was the second flight of the Astro observatory with three Ultra-Violet telescopes on board. The flight lasted 16 days and ended with a landing on 18 March 1995 at the Edwards Air Force Base in California.

In summer 1999, Gregory retired from NASA and the Air Force and worked until August 2008 as Manager of Business Development for Honeywell in Phoenix, then in Micro -Tronics. In November 2010, he was Vice President of Business Development at the company Qwaltec in Tempe.

Life and Private

William Gregory is of Albanian descent, the family is originally from Korca. Gregory is married and has two children.
