William H. Noble

William Henry Noble ( born September 22, 1788 in New Milford, Connecticut; † February 5, 1850 in Rochester, New York ) was an American politician. Between 1837 and 1839 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Henry Noble was born about five years after the end of the Revolutionary War in Litchfield County. The family first moved to Ballston Spa, then to Cato and from there to Rochester. He received a limited education. Then he worked as a tanner and later as a farmer. Between 1828 and 1830 he sat in the New York State Assembly. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1836 for the 25th Congress Noble in the 24th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Ulysses F. Doubleday on March 4, 1837. He suffered in his re-election bid in 1838, a defeat and then retired after March 3, 1839, from the Congress of. Between 1843 and 1845 he was inspector in Auburn prison. He died on February 5, 1850 in Rochester.
