William Henry Stafford Jr.

William Henry Stafford Jr. ( born 1931 in Masury, Ohio) is an American lawyer and former federal judge.

Stafford was given in 1953 at Temple University a bachelor's degree. From 1956 to 1960 he was a lieutenant ( jg ) in the United States Navy. Then he had from 1961 to 1969 in Pensacola (Florida ) own private practice in 1963 and received his license to practice lawyer. As a prosecutor, he was from 1967 to 1969 responsible for the first judicial district of Florida. From 1969 to 1975 Stafford then acted as a federal prosecutor for the Northern District of Florida.

As a federal judge Stafford was active in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida. On April 18, 1975, he was nominated by President Gerald Ford; on May 12, 1975, the nomination was approved by the U.S. Senate, after which he spent two days later succeeded the retiring David Lycurgus Middlebrooks. From 1981 to 1993 he served as chief judge. On 31 May 1996, Stafford has can be put into the pension status.
