William Howard Hay

William Howard Hay ( * 1866, † 1940) was a physician who founded the food combining. Regarding the invention, it was because he fell ill with a severe kidney disease ( Bright's Disease), which was at that time with the help of medical methods as incurable.

Hay completed his medical studies in 1891 at the New York University Medical College and practiced 16 years as a physician and surgeon.

He was also interested in the diet of primitive people. In a self-experiment he presented in 1907 a diet together, which allowed him to recover his own statements in just three months. Thus, the further life was determined for him: No more fighting the symptoms, but the disease causes. He has published several books on the subject and founded his own sanatorium. His nutrition is also known as Hay'sche diet.

He died about 30 years after the kidney disease at the age of 74 years in a car accident.
