William Odling
William Odling ( born September 5, 1829 in Southwark (now in London ), † February 17, 1921 in Oxford ) was an English chemist.
Life and work
William Odling was from 1863 professor in London and from 1872 to 1912 at Oxford University.
He was co-founder of Valenzbegriffs 1855 and expanded in 1855, the type theory of Charles Frédéric Gerhardt and Auguste Laurent. With its disposition of the elements in 13 " natural groups " (1857 ) and its elements boards ( 1857-65 ), he created the precursor of the periodic table.
