William S. Baring-Gould

William Stuart Baring - Gould ( * 1913, † August 10, 1967 in Mount Kisco, Westchester County, New York ) was an important Sherlockianer as editor and commentator of the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

He wrote, among other things, a fictional biography of Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock Holmes of Baker Street, 1962), dealt extensively with the Ronald Knox ( 1888-1957 ) applied problem of sequence and chronology of the Sherlock Holmes stories ( The Chronological Holmes, 1955) and delivered to the two -volume edition of the Annotated Sherlock Holmes (1967), a standard work of non-academic Holmes research.

He was married since 1936 with Lucile Marguerite " Ceil " Moody ( 1914-2010 ), which he published in 1962 The Annotated Mother Goose.
