William Steig

William Steig ( born November 14, 1907 in New York City; † October 3, 2003 in Boston, Massachusetts) was an American cartoonist and children's book author. He is the father of jazz flutist Jeremy Steig.

Life

He never wanted to grow up, he brought in more than two dozen children's books expressed. Before climbing was promoted to King of Cartoons. 1930 bought the New York his first drawing, 117 items pictures followed. His greatest success came in the early nineties lover Picasso: climbing invented the green grumpy monster Shrek, which later became the hero of a very successful cartoon series. Shortly before his death in 1984 his authored and celebrated picture book was launched on the creation story again: Yellow and pink. All glory despite children remained his favorite customers.
