William Ward (Pennsylvania)

William Ward ( born January 1, 1837 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † February 27, 1895 in Chester, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1877 and 1883 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Ward attended Girard College in Philadelphia. He then completed at the newspaper Delaware County Republican doctrine in the printing trade. After a subsequent law degree in 1859 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he began to work in Chester in this profession. He was also active in the real estate business and the banking industry. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. He was a member of the City Council of Chester and at times legal representatives of this city.

In the congressional elections of 1876, in the Sixth Ward Election District of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Washington Townsend on March 4, 1877. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1883 three legislative periods. In 1882 he gave up another candidacy.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives William Ward took his previous activities on again. He died on February 27, 1895 in Chester, where he was also buried.
