William Warfield Wilson

William Warfield Wilson ( born March 2, 1868 in Ohio, Bureau County, Illinois; † July 22, 1942 in Chicago ) was an American lawyer and politician who served for many years representative of the State of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Life

After attending public schools in his hometown of Wilson studied at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After a subsequent postgraduate study of law at Chicago -Kent College of Law, he received in 1893 the attorney approval and began working as an attorney in Chicago.

In 1902 he was elected as a candidate of the Republican Party for the first time a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and represented there on 4 March 1903 to 3 March 1913 the third congressional district of Illinois. In the congressional elections in 1912, he suffered a defeat against his Democratic challenger George E. Gorman. Against this he won in the subsequent congressional elections of 1914, so that once again he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives on 4 March 1915 to 3 March 1921.

After 1920 waived for reelection, he was from 1922 to 1927 Alien Property Custodian of Chejustiziar, a government authority for fiduciary management of seized property of enemies of the United States. Upon completion of this activity, he worked as a lawyer again, and was buried in the Union Cemetery in Chicago after his death.
