William " Willie" Ferdie Brown ( born December 2, 1940 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, United States ) is an American former American football player in the American Football League ( AFL) and the National Football League ( NFL). He played as a cornerback for the Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders.

Playing career

Willie Brown studied at Grambling State University. After his studies, he was engaged by the Houston Oilers. The team still dismissed him during a training camp. Brown then received by the Denver Broncos a contract offer. He played for the team from Denver as a cornerback. After he was initially only substitute in this position, he was employed by six games in the season as a starter in 1963. The team was unsuccessful this year. Even after Mac Speedie had taken over the course of the season in 1964, the coach of the team from Colorado, the team could not increase. A title succeeded Brown with the Broncos not. Before the season, the team gave him away to the Oakland Raiders, coached by John Rauch.

1967 was the Raiders win 13 of 14 games in the American Football League. With this result, they moved to the AFL- Finals against the Houston Oilers. The Oilers documents with 40:7, where Brown could intercept a pass of the opposing quarterbacks in the game. With the win, the Raiders for the " AFL- NFL Championship Game", which was later renamed Super Bowl II qualified. Coaching career

John Madden left after the 1978 season, the Raiders and was replaced by Tom Flores. Brown was the assistant coach and was responsible for the defensive backs. In this role, he won with his team the XV and XVIII. In Super Bowl XV supported by him defensive backs were able to achieve three interceptions against quarterback Ron Jaworski. The reasons given by this Philadelphia Eagles lost the game with 27:10 Even the quarterback of the Washington Redskins Joe Theismann threw two interceptions in Super Bowl XVIII to Mike Haynes and Jack Squirek. He is a member of the AFL All- Time Team, NFL 1970s All- Decade Team in the, in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame and in the * African-American Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame, and in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
