Willy Busch

Wilhelm ( Willy ) Busch ( born January 4, 19071982) was a German football player.

Start of career

He played as a defender in the thirties for TSV 1899 Duisburg, in the TuS Duisburg 48/99 went over from 1936. In the German national team, he was from 1933 to 1936 in 13 games actively. Under the leadership of coach Otto Mink Willy Busch finished third in the FIFA World Cup in Italy in 1934. At the World Cup tournament Busch denied the games against Sweden, Czechoslovakia and Austria. In winning the match for third place against Austria, he made the first time with Paul Janes the defender pair. For the Olympic tournament in Berlin in 1936, he was not appointed. On September 27, 1936 in Krefeld, he led the team in his 13th deployment as captain on the field. The game was won with 7:2 goals against Luxembourg. So that his career ended in the national football team. He represented the German colors in 13 games. He celebrated 10 wins, one draw and experience had to take only two defeats.

End of career

At club level he experienced - after winning the championship in 1944 in the Gauliga Niederrhein - at the ripe age of 37, still plays in the final round of the German Cup against FC Schalke 04 and the Air Force Sports Club Hamburg. Two decades he held his club loyalty. In 1948, he took his leave as a player and took over the training line. Later, he was also coach of Duisburg FV 08
