Willy Schärer

William " Willy " Schärer ( born September 20, 1903 in Bern, † November 26, 1982 same place ) was a Swiss track and field athlete, specialized in the 1,500 -meter run. At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 of the Berne won the silver medal behind the Finn Paavo Nurmi. Schärer improved in this run his national record by 6.8 seconds. His time of 3:55,0 min remained until 1949 as a Swiss record exist.
