Willy Vanden Berghen

Willy Vanden Berghen ( born July 3, 1939 in Vilvoorde ) is a former Belgian racing cyclist.

He won the overall classification at the Tour Flèche du Sud in Luxembourg, 1959, the Belgian championships in the individual pursuit on the track and the one-day races Schaal Sels Merksem and 1960, the twelfth stage of the Peace Race in amateur in 1958. In the same year he won further whenever the third place in the overall standings of the Peace Race, as well as in road single race at the road World Cycling Championships at the Sachsenring in the German Democratic Republic and at the Summer Olympic Games in Rome.

After his move to the pros, he scored in 1961 and 1962, four wins in individual races, including in 1962 for the team Mercier -BP - Hutchinson at a criterion of the race Paris-Nice and the fourth stage of the Tour de France, and in 1963 two victories. After the 1966 season, he ended his active career.
