Willy Vlautin

Willy Vlautin ( * 1967 in Reno, Nevada ) is an American writer and musician. He is the lead singer of the band Richmond Fontaine and wrote three novels.

Career

Vlautin grew up in Reno and lives in Scappoose ( Oregon).

Music

Together with bassist Dave Harding founded Vlautin 1994, the band Richmond Fontaine in Portland (Oregon ). Overall, Richmond Fontaine produced seven albums, a soundtrack for a book instrumentalischen ( North Line ) and two live recordings and an EP. As a singer and writer Vlautin linked characters and situations in his books and song lyrics.

Texts

Vlautins first book, The Motel Life was published in 2005 and has since been translated into eleven languages. In Motellife Vlautin tells the story of two brothers who live in a hotel in Reno. He got on the title of the Dylan of the dislocated ( The Independent ). Motel Life was filmed in 2012.

Northline is Vlautins second book. The waitress Allison Johnson makes his way from Las Vegas to Reno to begin a new life. A CD with instrumentalischen and sad songs by Richmond Fontaine is the first book edition.

After his father left him, the 15 -year-old Charley Thompson suggests in the book Lean on Pete himself through life. Lean on Pete received the 2010 Ken Kesey Award for Fiction and Literary Arts and the The Oregonian Peoples ' Choice Award.
