Win Butler

Edwin Farnham "Win" Butler III ( born April 14, 1980 in Truckee, California, United States) is a singer, guitarist, pianist, bassist and songwriter of the Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire.

Life

Butler was born in Truckee, California, United States and grew up in The Woodlands, Texas. He is the grandson of jazz guitarist Alvino Rey. His mother and grandmother were active in the music business.

From the age of 15 he went to the Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, where he played in several school bands. Later, he studied photography at the Sarah Lawrence College in New York. However, the studies he broke off after one year. He then attended McGill University in Montreal, where he earned a degree in theology. He also met his future wife Régine Chassagne and bandmate, whom he married in 2003.

On April 2nd 2011 LCD Soundsystem played their last concert, which was recorded on DVD. On the concert Arcade Fire were represented as guests. While speaking between songs by James Murphy Win Butler " Shut Up and Play the Hits " called, this interjection was used as the title of the DVD.

On April 21, 2013 was Butler's first child, a son, was born.

Butler plays Fender Jaguar, Fender Telecaster Costum, as well as the company's Mosrite guitars and CF Martin & Co.
