Wind Telecomunicazioni SpA is an Italian telecommunications company based in Rome. WIND offers fixed, mobile, Internet and cable TV services through IPTV.

Market position

Wind is 22.6 % percent of mobile customers the third largest mobile operator in Italy. (2011 ) Wind is the second largest fixed line operator in Italy.

History

In December 1997, the Wind Telecomunicazioni by the Italian utility ENEL (51 percent ) and 49 percent of France Telecom and German Telekom is founded. Acquisition by Weather Investments

Network infrastructure

Wind operates an approximately 21,645 km long fiber backbone network and about 4.825km long optical fiber network ( MAN). It operated approximately 12,276 UMTS base stations and approximately 13,855 GSM / GPRS base stations.
