Windglider

The Windglider is a wind surfboard. It was produced sports equipment to the early 1980s in the Saarland Altforweiler of the Fred Ostermann GmbH.

1982 Windglider was acquired by the French group BIC, which also produces the world famous disposable lighters and disposable razors. With the brand Tabou BIC is still a major manufacturer of surfboards.

Windsurfing was the first time at 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles Olympic discipline. The Windglider at the time was the only permissible surfboard, with the competitions could be commenced.

Innovative main feature was a pronounced chamfer at the rear of the board, which in addition to the weight savings had the advantage to increase the stability of the hull.
