Winfried Michel

Winfried Michel ( born 1948 in Fulda ) is a German composer, recorder player and music publishers.

Life

Winfried Michel studied recorder at Ingetraud Drescher, Nikolaus Delius and Frans Brüggen. He is a professor of recorder at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Münster and the Music Academy of Kassel. In addition to composing his own works, and he has published numerous works under the pseudonym of Giovanni Paolo Simonetti, all built in the style of the 17th and early 18th century. Beginning of the 1990s, he managed to fool even specialists as HC Robbins Landon and Paul Badura- Skoda, as he presented 6 ( self-composed ) sonatas as newly discovered works of Joseph Haydn.
