Shown are recordings from the first overflight of an aircraft over Mount Everest on 3 April 1933. Director and chief pilot of the Houston Everest Expedition was Douglas Douglas-Hamilton, Lord Clydesdale.
Awards
1936 the film won the Oscar for Best Short Film ( Novelty ).
Background
The film was a collaboration between the British branch of Gaumont British Gaumont and the American production company Skibo Productions. The production, which had an original length of 40 minutes, was shown on 19 July 1935 in the United States in a 22 -minute version.
