Geography

Geographical Location

The village lies on the edge of the hill country niederbaierischen ( Tertiary) in the mouth triangle between Isen and Inn.

History

Until recently it was assumed that Winhöring was documented as Uuiniheringa for the first time 953 as Papal possession. In charters of the bishops of Freising, however, mentions a donation in Winhöring already on 13 February 816. Winhöring has long been the seat of a Hofmark, which was Toerring - Jettenbach since 1721 in the possession of the counts. Winhöring was in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818 an independent political community. On January 1, 1967 parts of the disbanded community harrows were incorporated to Winhöring.

Religions

The population of the community consists of approximately 90% composed of Catholics. The Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul reports to the Dean's Office Altötting and belongs to the diocese of Passau. The parish is adjacent to the parish church of St. Peter and Paul nor affiliated with two other churches: The Church of Holy Name field is located in the cemetery at the southern city limits, St. Bartholomew's Chapel in the village castle is a relic of a medieval castle. Smaller devotions still be held in two affiliated churches, such as devotions.

Attractions

  • Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul
  • Vicarage The remarkable and unique in Eastern Bavaria parsonage was built in 1728 by the then minister Stadler. The associated economics was demolished in the late sixties and instead a house for the priest built without showing it a flair for the beautiful ensemble. Nevertheless, the courtyard was down substantially retained by a wall to Neuöttinger road. The buildings on the north side, inter alia, a two-story open porch with domed turrets were exemplary renovated in recent years and serve as a meeting and group rooms of the parish. In addition, the local library was housed in the premises.

Traffic

Rail

The railway line from Mühldorf to Simbach runs in the southern municipality and offers a boarding option at the breakpoint Neuoetting which is in the Eastern Township area. From Munich ago is hourly Regionalzuganschluss. Direction Simbach is about Braunau also connection to Vienna Wels and Linz. With the timetable change in December 2008, a direct connection from Mühldorf to Linz was established with a stop in Neuoetting station.

Road

The municipality is crossed by the federal road 299 (GER -Landshut ) and B 588 ( Neuoetting - Eggenfelden). In the southern municipality of the already partially finished motorway runs 94 (Munich - Pocking ).

Education and Culture

Kindergartens

Under the sponsorship of the parishioners Caritas two kindergartens are operated. The nursery of St. Peter and Paul is located in the town center, in the early 1990s, the second Kindergarten St. Valentine was rebuilt in the district Unterau.

Train

An elementary and middle school with a territorially relatively large rural catchment area, partly also from neighboring communities, is in the center.
