Winnebago is located in the U.S. state of Minnesota in the Midwestern United States. About 30 kilometers south of the boundary with Iowa. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 5.7 square kilometers. Major cities in the surrounding area are Blue Earth and Fairmont. Further north Mankato.
Climate
In Winnebago reigns typical for Minnesota continental climate. Thus, summer, winters are hot and humid, whereas cold with little precipitation. An average of 82 days per year, the maximum daily temperature is below zero degrees Celsius. The annual snowfall amount is 116 centimeters.
History
The origins Winnebagos go back to the 1850s. In October 1856 a group of young people along the Blue Earth River went in search of a suitable place of settlement and uninhabited. Led by Andrew C. Dunn they settled on the site of the present city. Named after this was the Winnebago Indians, whose reservation was located in the adjacent 1855-1863 Blue Earth County. The name City has since been performed in contrast to the Indian settlement, but in 1905 abandoned.
1861 Winnebago had a total population of about 100 inhabitants, who lived in the small village. By 1870, the population grew to 1,106 people.

Traffic
Major roads by Winnebago are U.S. Highway 169, which runs north -south through the city, as well as the Minnesota State Route 109, which begins in Winnebago and heads east. Further south, the city is located to the Interstate 90, a main route to the United States.
The Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railway built the railway line between Omaha and Minneapolis by Winnebago and set up a one station.
