Winterlingen

Winter Lingen is a municipality in Zollernalbkreis, about ten kilometers southeast of Albstadt. It consists in its current form since 1 January 1975, when the previously independent municipalities Benzingen were incorporated with the hamlet Blättringen (211 hectare district area ) and hard Hausen on the shear to Winter Lingen.

Geography

Geographical location

On the belonging to the western Swabian Alb municipality there are neither striking mountains nor large height differences. The denunciation of the three areas, 730-820 m above sea level, districts are: Winter Lingen 16.88 km ², Benzingen 17.09 km ², Harthausen 16.67 km ².

Community structure

The municipality comprises the former municipalities Benzingen, hard living and Winter Lingen. For the former municipality Benzingen include the village Benzingen and the hamlet Blättringen. For the former municipality Harthausen part of the village Harthausen. The municipality Winter Lingen within the frontiers of December 31, 1974 included the village of Lingen winter and the sun Halden houses and pastures.

Within the area are the disposed, now defunct villages Deutenbronn, beer village, Nice village, glass of wine and hard Stetten. Deutenbronn located south of the former municipality Benzingen the field name is called since the 17th century. Geology

Limestone of the upper White Jura ( Quenstedt W δ / ε, Kimmeridgian 2-3) characterizes the greater part of its territory. History

Pre-and Early History

As evidenced by archaeological finds, the Winterlinger area was populated at least since the Bronze Age burial mounds (about 1500 BC) continuously. From the late urnfield time (around 900 BC) the bronze axes and sickles, which were discovered in 1609 and are now on display in the Württemberg State Museum.

Several grave mound groups of the Hallstatt period (c. 800-500 BC) located on the municipality, and from the late Celtic La Tène period was found four goblets.

In ancient times, one developed by the Romans Roman road, called the high street, from the upper Neckar led through the castle Lautlingen by the municipality to the Danube ford at Laiz. It branches off on the current municipal area by Bitz and on about Hermann village to the castle Burladingen to the so-called Alblimes.

Medieval and modern times

The place name Winter Lingen and Benzingen prove the establishment of these settlements in the phase of Alemannic land acquisition. Harthausen assigns it to the expansion time.

In the year 793 Winter Lingen was mentioned in a deed of Count Berthold to the monastery of St. Gall. In the 8th century, the municipality belonged to the Gaugrafschaft Scherra, whose name derives from the Old High German one scorra (meaning rock, cf Swedish skerry ) is derived and obtained by the abbreviation of Harthausen remained until today. As part of the administrative reform Benzingen and Harthausen were incorporated to Winterlingen on 1 January 1975. The municipalities decided against participation in the then newly formed county seat Albstadt. With the neighboring community Strassberg is an Agreed administrative matters.

On May 2, 2010 Michael Maier became the mayor of Winter Lingen elected with 94 percent of the votes with a turnout of 49 percent. Economy and infrastructure

Winter Lingen

Benzingen

Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul. The choir is Romanesque, the ship was built in 1629 and 1733, the tower with stepped gable 1688. Font and tabernacle of sandstone are late Gothic style around 1500. Johann Joseph Christian 1732 carved figurative pulpit.
