Winthrop Mackworth Praed

Winthrop Mackworth Praed ( born July 26, 1802 in London, † July 15, 1839 ) was an English politician and writer.

Winthrop Mackworth Praed attended Eton College and the University of Cambridge. In 1830 he was Member of Parliament for the Tories, 1834-35 he was secretary of the Board of Control. He wrote mainly humorous and satirical, but also socially critical lyrics.

Winthrop Mackworth Praed died at age 36 of tuberculosis.
